Navigating the transition to adulthood has never been easy, but it's also never been this hard. In today's ever-changing world - young adults are faced with more challenges than ever. Whether it's increased educational and career demands, an unstable economy and the rising costs of living, or the challenges of navigating relationships in a social media and dating app minefield - let's face it, adulting sucks!
That's why we created this four-week group to help young adults (ages 17-25) develop the resilience they need to not only face whatever life throws at them, but to flourish in spite of it. Resilience is the ability to successfully adapt to challenging life experiences and it's both a mindset and a set of specific coping strategies.
Astronaut Chris Hadfield recommends that we DO sweat the small stuff because if we can anticipate potential challenges and setbacks - then we can proactively prepare for them. We figure if it works for an astronaut - it can work for you!
In this group you'll learn how to develop both a resiliency mindset and a toolkit that includes strategies to reframe unhelpful thoughts, as well as mindfulness and self-compassion skills. You'll also identify what matters most to you in life (your values), set meaningful goals for the future, and develop your own personal resilience plan to proactively prepare you for whatever challenges life throws your way.
This group is appropriate for grade 12 students, navigating their last year of high school and the transition to post-secondary, post-secondary students, young adults entering the workforce, young athletes, or really anyone between the ages of 17-25 years old who is feeling lost and struggling with the challenges of adulting.
Don't just survive early adulthood - learn to thrive!
