Join us in celebrating Neurodiversity Week, March 17-23, 2025, by promoting acceptance and understanding.
Neurodivergence has become an important term in conversations about mental health and cognitive diversity. Coined in the 1990s by Australian sociologist Judy Singer, neurodivergence describes brain function that differs from what is considered typical. Singer championed neurodiversity as a social justice movement, advocating for equality and inclusion of those with diverse cognitive patterns.
Conditions such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Tourette’s, Epilepsy, OCD, and various learning disabilities are commonly included under the neurodivergent umbrella.
Neurodivergence is not a flaw—it is a natural variation in human thinking. By understanding and embracing these differences, we can create a more inclusive and accepting world.
